In July 2012, I created a post called A Dozen Eggs that featured the iconic Egg chair by Arne Jacobsen. Since tomorrow is Easter, it seems appropriate to share photos of another dozen eggs, and I'll make is a "baker's dozen" with thirteen . . .

Arne Jacobsen was a Danish architect, who taught architecture between 1956 and 1965.

Many of Arne Jacobsen's best-known designs were originally architectural commissions. He "believed that 'form follows function,' and that every aspect of a building's conception and design should be integrated into a coherent whole." [Source.] The "Egg" chair was designed as part of Jacobsen's plan for the SAS Royal Copenhagen Hotel, which opened in 1960.

"Designed by Arne Jacobsen, Radisson Blu Royal Hotel, Copenhagen is the original 'starchitect' hotel. It was designed by influential Danish architect Arne Jacobsen in seamless Danish Modern style."

"Two Arne Jacobsen Egg chairs, a circa 1950 Vladimir Kagan sofa and a custom round stainless-steel low table are grouped in the living room. Illyria, 1999, by Maxwell Hendler hangs on the wall. Allem added the white leather border to the Belgian wool carpet."

"Arne Jacobsen created the 'Egg' chair for the lobby of the Royal Hotel in Copenhagen in 1958, and it has since become a design classic. Its organic shape and curved lines work well in contrast with the medieval surroundings of the library in this Oxfordshire house. (Not to mention the rustic ladder, also stacked with books)."

"The living room walls display, from left, a Francesco Scavullo photograph of Hearst from the 1980s, a mixed-media work by Caio Fonseca, and a James Rosenquist painting; the 19th-century mantel is from A & R Asta. An Arne Jacobsen Egg chair rests on a rug by Orley Shabahang, and, behind it, a ’40s German vase stands next to a Paolo Buffa cabinet from 1stdibs; the painted-bronze dog sculpture is by Julien Marinetti."

"Cherrywood floors and a stucco wall provide a textured back-drop for the second-floor living area. A Hariri and Hariri-designed low table is surrounded by midcentury classics: Arne Jacobsen’s Egg chair, a sofa and wire chair by Charles and Ray Eames and Gaetano Pesce’s Up chair."

"In the living room, a painting by local artist Ian Mulyana and bright accents, such as an Arne Jacobsen Egg chair, punctuate clean, modern lines. 'I think red lifts the kids’ spirits,' remarks Ridwan, the father of two."

"From an acid green Arne Jacobsen egg chair to a red sofa, color is the primary idea behind this intriguing design. Accessories with a well-traveled flair, like floral floor cushions, a sculpture and potted palm, complete the theme."
